Converted to what format? And what compression type and frequency is the audio?

[Milton Ginsberg] "importing quicktime film clip into fcp7 (via mpeg stream, handbrake off of dvd off of tv)audio wont import with it "
Open the file in QT or MPGStreamclip and see if the audio is MP2 (MPG-1/Layer2).
In that case FC can not read the audio.
Convert the DVD files to something with PCM audio (48Khz, 16 bits).

Thank you for trying to help, guys...
This is what MPEGStream shows me the characteristics are
which I want
and which I can't import into fcp7

Video Tracks:
Apple ProRes 422, 1280 × 720, 29.97 fps, 61.45 Mbps

Audio Tracks:
16-bit Big Endian stereo, 48 kHz, 1.54 Mbps

(no problem fcpx, but if i make an .mov in fcpx and import into fcp7
still won't read audio???)

That seems OK.

The only way to know it, is to try.
Export a short clip and see what hapens.

Dumb question, but can you post a screenshot of your sequence settings and video/audio settings?

Thanks everyone, problem solved. I took the audio into compressor and made
a quicktime audio file out of it and laid it in timeline. But thanks for all your interest. COW far and away the best place for editing help.
