I am currently working on a digital story in FCP 7. I'm kind of an amateur, I'll admit.
But I shot a bunch of video using a Sony Cybershot DSC F828 camera. I put all the shots in a folder on a Mac, and previewed them. Everything worked fine, the sound was fine, but when I import the files to Final Cut, the audio doesn't come with it. The video works, but I can't find the audio. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
FCP will not edit that footage natively. If you need that, then you need to use Adobe CS6. FCP requires that the footage be first converted to an editing format it works with. ProRes 422 is the standard format. You can use Compressor to convert...possibly. Do a test and see if the audio comes over. Drag the clip into Compressor...use the ProRes 422 preset. You might need to change the audio settings in the INSPECTOR to be converted to something else, instead of PASSTHROUGH. Linear PCM.
