new monitor for editing on my mac pro

I've been looking around on line for a new monitor to use with my mac pro. I edit on FCP 7 and X but will soon start transitioning to Premiere as well. Lots of options out there in the $250-$400 range but I'm just not sure what is best. my mac pro has DVI and mini DisplayPort options. Anybody using a monitor they really like? Also, looks like I might need an adapter to work with HDMI or VGA. any opinions if one of those options is better than the other?

thanks,

Mike

Dell makes a some decent monitors in that price range that I've heard good things about, like the UltraSharp U2412M.

At these resolutions (1920x1080 and greater) I'd stick to DVI or HDMI. Stay away from VGA connections.

any monitor with a dvi port and supports 1080 resolution is fine it is what looks good to you, some people like one thing and others like others it is just your personal preference . what feels good on your eyes and if you want one for color correction you willl have to tack on another 0 at the end
