3 Camera Edit
on Mar 15, 2013 at 4:08:02 pm

I am working on a project with 3 different cameras in FCP 7 on a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac with 12 GB Ram. The cameras are Nikon D5100, Panasonic AG-HPX370, and GoPro. I have transcoded the GoPro footage with to the Gopro Cineform codec as recommended by GoPro. I also transcoded the Panasonic and Nikon footage to Prores 422. When I put clips from the three cameras in one sequence it makes me render for over an hour and then it will play until I make any change to the sequence and make me render again for over an hour. Ideally I would like to create a multiclip. Can anyone please help out?

If you want to create a Multiclip, you need to convert all the formats to one common format, frame size and frame rate. IE, ProRes 422, 1920x1080 29.97fps. Then you can multiclip.

Note that three streams of ProRes will require an eSATA, Thunderbolt, MiniSAS or similar type connection to the hard drive...and it will have to be a two drive or more RAID. Firewire 800 will struggle with this.
