Consolidating different format files with Media Manager
on Mar 7, 2013 at 7:43:21 am

Hi. Need some help here. I have a project on timeline which I need to consolidate with Media Manager to send to the grader. Problem is Media Manager rejects some clips. I suspect it's because the clips are mixed: some are raw H.264 from Canon 5DmkII, some Pro Res LT and some are PRo Res LT exported as H.264.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Yeah...don't ever use raw H.264 files in your sequence...ever. I mean never. FCP doesn't like that format, and it's unpredictable in how it reacts to that format. Convert the footage to ProRes LT...relink the files in the timeline to the new ProRes footage.

Never edit H.264, MP4...any other format that isn't an FCP editing codec. If you want to work native, use an app that does that, like Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.
