Converting normal text to outline text?
on Feb 10, 2013 at 12:38:15 pm

Hello,

I was just wondering how one could turn a normal text, into an outline text on FCP? Or do I just have to re-type it all up again? :/

Thanks

Use the Boris 3D text generator.

you can use a 3rd party app called Title Exchange Pro.
it's a bit pricey if you only have a few titles,'if you have 100s, it can be worth it.
it works via XML

for a few here's what i do:

make sure all titles are on 1 track
options Shift drag all titles up to a new track.

open outline text into the viewer,
park on the 1st clip in the timeline, set one of the text tracks as target,
and use Replace edit F11
open it and set the text style to taste.

go thru the timeline, using replace edit to replace all old text w outline text.

go back to start and pop open text clip one, copy, pop open outline text clip 1 paste.
(Tab wil move you into the text entry field)

Boris is much slower and more cumbersome to use,
and is invisible to XML

thanks for your response but I'm slightly confused by your explanation...

"open outline text into the viewer,
park on the 1st clip in the timeline, set one of the text tracks as target,
and use Replace edit F11
open it and set the text style to taste.

go thru the timeline, using replace edit to replace all old text w outline text.

go back to start and pop open text clip one, copy, pop open outline text clip 1 paste.
(Tab wil move you into the text entry field)"

Sorry can you explain a bit more clearly :/

Thanks!
