Problems with .MTS files in fcp

I am having some difficulty in converting .mts files to .mov files for fcp. I have been visiting this website for many other issues and have gotten a lot of valuable assistance. I was sent some HD video clips via dropsend.com. They were in .MTS format. I used iskysoft to convert them to.mov files, as I always do for any irregular type of file. Quicktime player recognizes the .mov file and plays it back fine. The info on the file is H264,1920 x 1080, AAC. When I try to import it to fcp using the import file command, I get an error message; "error, 1 file (s) recognized, 0 access denied, unknown. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Were you sent the FULL card backup? I hope so...if so you use this workflow:

If you ONLY have the .MTS files...well, then you need to use ClipWrap2 (divergentmedia.com) and convert those to ProRes. FCP doesn't work with H.264 files all that well.

That software works great! Thanks. I was using another converter I had purchased earlier, but this program is worth the additional expense.

Yeah, it's pretty darn slick.
