H264 incompatibility with FCP
on Jan 26, 2013 at 7:31:25 pm

Need some help with this one. I converted a clip in .MTS to H.264 quicktime hoping to drop it into FCP and edit. Didn't work. Tried to import it, drag it into both the browser and timeline, but it wouldn't take.
Ironically the clip plays in Quicktime 7 player and in Compressor but in FCP I keep getting the "File Unknown" message. Any suggestions? Thanks, Neal

FCP doesn't like to work with H.264. YOu need to convert it to ProRes. Compressor and MPEG STREAMCLIP will do this.
