FCP 7 - Application itself gets bigger after rendering
on Jan 8, 2013 at 10:42:19 pm

I have FCP 7.0.3 on a 2010 MBP 13. I've noticed recently every time I render my timeline, my FCP.app gets bigger and bigger. It looks like the rendering is going into my application inside the comp HD instead of my render file folder on my external drive!! How do I get rid of the excess inside the app? I've had to remove the FCP 7 app and reinstall, but now its still doing it again! How can I rectify this? Any help appreciated.

This happens, and it's bothersome.

Right-Click on the FCP Application and choose SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS. Look for a RENDERS folder in there. BE VERY CAREFUL...only delete that renders folder, nothing else. Trash it, empty the trash.

Then go into the prefs and reset your scratch disk, and render again.

Is there any way to avoid this in the future? A setting that I'm not using, etc?

That haped long ago to Jeremy Garchow, but since then I haven't heard again of this.
No idea how to avoid it.
Make sure that the Scratch Disk is set to keep the renders on a proper place.
