Error while exporting .MXF from FCP 7
on Dec 11, 2012 at 1:28:13 pm

Hi, I am trying to export a timeline from Final Cut to a .MXF file and it is not working.

I select the timeline, go to File>Export>Sony XDCAM, then check the settings and click export.
FCP renders the timeline and then transfer the export to Sony XDCAM Exporter.
When the export is around 20% I get an error saying:
"Please check that the volume to which you are exporting is not locked or full.
Error writing MXF file (while checking expected MPEG-2 picture_coding_type)."

I have tried to export to my RAID and to the desktop, both of them have space and are not locked.
I also managed to export another timeline without any problems.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Thank you,
Miguel.

Hi Miguel,
Nothing wrong.
FCP prevents to export files bigger than 4GBs.
That's the limit for FAT-32 media.
Chop your movie so the FMX don't reach that size.
I think that if you keep the sequence below 14 minutes will go OK.

Hello, Miguel.

The MPEG-2 MXF file from Sony XDCAM is too big, I guess.

You need to crop the videos. Or you can transcode the file to Apple ProRes with a smaller file for directly importing to FCP 7 for editing.

Signature´╝Ü Are you Canon EOS C300 users? If so, do you want to get the MXF recordings ...
