Source material from dvds and dvds off VHS tapes. Need best output for vimeo. What are the best FCP settings for the quality I will need?

You can check out Vimeo's recommendations: http://vimeo.com/help/compression

DVDs are standard definition, so you'll want to transcode that to ProRes before you edit. Then export a master ProRes file, Compress to H264 in Compressor with Vimeo's specifications.

Thanks Kylee. May actually try fcpX with this one. Have to try it some time
and it seems to pull in material in different forms more readily....
something like DVD > HANDBRAKE > MPEG > FCPX in prores
then I'll check out what form for Vimeo
Sound too complicated?

I'd use MPEG Streamclip to rip the DVD, Handbrake is kinda wonk and doesn't make the files you'll need.

I've become intrigued with fcpX
seems it will take material in any form
quick from MPEG or MP4 from Handbrake.
Now all I have to do is spend a day or two with fcpX tutorials.
