.mov content randomly shifts in timeline
on Nov 20, 2012 at 12:54:12 am

this is weird. when i export an .mov from Flash CS5 the .mov plays fine in Quicktime.

howEVER, when imported into FCP, the in and out points won't stay put. in other words, once placed in the timeline, the first frame of the clip will play the part of the part of the animation that shouldn't play until half way through the animation. if i have a countdown animation-from 10 down to 1, say, the beginning of the clip might show the countdown from 7 or 4. THEN, as it continues playing, i'll see the 10 at some point, just not at the right point.

is this clear? it's a bit difficult to articulate.

I guess your file contains some unsupported codec.
FC do not support H264, Mp4, etc.
Try with one of the usual production codecs.

thanks, rafael, much appreciated. i've been using dvcpro 720x60--that's what our editors use--but i've also tried animation and a couple of other codecs. still same problem.

maybe i've just got to find the right codec, but so far no go.

thanks again for the response.

Hi Ben,
You shouldn't been having problems with those codecs.
Try making some FC maintenance. Delete the "Constant Frames" folder (Renders),
and refresh permissions, to start.
