FCP 5 Video Cards
on Nov 7, 2012 at 12:13:13 am

I have Final Cut 5 (will be upgrading soon) running on a PowerMac G5 and I need a way to monitor FCP to an external monitor. Not really concerned with tape input/output as I receive and deliver media via files. Is there an inexpensive card that can do this for me?

On a POWERMAC? All the options for that are no longer for sale. You'd have to search on eBay. And when that machine was in use, your options were the AJA Kona 2, Kona LH...Hmmm...a Decklink model. Decklink HD Pro and Decklink Extreme. But you'd have to search eBay for those.

Make sure they are PCI-X models. Or is your machine the one G5 model with PCI-e?

I figured I would be looking for a used one. I can"t remember if it is PCI-e or X. Where can I find that info?
Thanks!

Go to the Apple Menu and choose ABOUT THIS MAC, and then choose SYSTEM PROFILE (or MORE INFO). It should say so in there.
