Final Cut Pro 6 - Codec Trouble - Working with Avid DNxHD clips
on Sep 18, 2012 at 9:04:21 pm

I'm editing on Final Cut Pro 6 and imported footage that was sent to me. In my Final Cut Pro browser, it shows that the .mov files are in the Avid DNxHD codec. Do I have to download a Quicktime plugin to work with these clips? I'm getting a codec error message.

Thanks!

Matt

Saw your question. Did a Google search and came across this> http://www.proresconverter.com/convert-avid-dnxhd-to-apple-prores-for-final...

Don't know if it works. Just thought I would share it with you for your consideration.

Yes, you need to download the codecs in order to view the footage.

Even if you want to convert, you need the driver to even see the codec. Once you do this, you should convert the media to ProRes, as while FCP can edit and work with DNxHD, none of the real time features are available to you.
