I'm production managing a low budget TV documentary project. I have a bunch of new hardware that was specced out and ordered by someone who was working on the project before me. I know my way round macs but i;m not an editor or a network expert.
I am setting up 2 fcp7 workstations on imacs (i7 3.4ghz, 16gb, beefed up gfx cards, mountain lion). Want them to be able to share access to project files & media on pegasus 12tb raid system (RAID 6). I have a mac mini (2.0ghz i7,4gb) to use as server.
I am guessing I need to buy an ethernet switch and some cable to run between rooms - but do I need any special software on the server besides OS X server? The editors do not need to access the same projects at the same time.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated - I want to set this up right and not have to reverse engineer once my editor starts cutting next week!
