Unrendered video looks better than rendered video
on Aug 21, 2012 at 6:00:30 pm

So, weird question here. I'm working with some video that was shot by a co-worker before I started at my current company, but he forgot to white balance before he started shooting, and the background (seamless paper backdrop) is a little over-exposed. Using FCP7, I color-corrected the footage with CC3Way, so that it looks as good as possible, and adjusted the brightness to knock down the exposure a little bit.

The unrendered video looks as good as I can hope to get it and the background looks like one flat color. But when I render it and play it, you can clearly see that the overexposed part is a different color than the properly exposed part of the background.

Is there any way that I can export the unrendered portion of the video, or something I can do to get a similar result?

Tell us more about the codec of the footage you're using and your sequence settings first.

Sorry - guess that would help.

Footage and sequence are both DVCPRO HD 720p60, 960x702, 23.98 fps in FCP 7.0.3

Make that 960x720, not 702
