Is this external drive adequate to edit from directly?

Sam's Club was blowing out these 2-terabyte external drives for a hundred bucks. I got one initially for just a backup archival use, but I wonder if I can edit FCP projects using it as a scratch drive, feeding my new imac via usb3.

It's a Seagate free agent go flex 2 TB. No specs are listed. Thoughts?

If it is this one..

Then most likely it is not going to be able to edit directly.

It is just a USB 2.0 connection which won't handle the data transfer needed to edit, especially if you are doing any HD.

Steve.

I think they need to list their specs! Even on the website they don't list the speed of the drive. Because of this, I suspect that they are putting in 5400RPM drives, and touting these only as backup.

But try it out and see. I too am looking for a USB 3 drive to test using as a media drive.

It touts a USB 3 connector, which is what got me thinking about it as a scratch drive... for non-critical home movie type usage.
