WHAT IS THE Best Exporting and Converting to FLASH from Final Cut
on Jul 10, 2012 at 1:56:26 pm

Ok I have a business that creates videos online @640 by 360 widescreen and one of my bigger clients needs all files in FLV (Flash) format. Since I am going to be putting out and compressing more than 20 files a day, I need to know the MOST EFFICIENT way to get my file out of final cut to the upload stage. These files need to look nice, but 1 and a half minute files - 30mb to 50 mb at most. These are presentation materials but there is a ton of uploading and we have found the compression that works best. PLEASE HELP if you have any working knowledge of what I need done. Please recommend the BEST tool that will help me get the job done. I have Final Cut Pro 6.05 version.

Steve

On a Mac I would say you have two options:
Episode 6 or Adobe Media Encoder CS6.

Episode 6 has a watch folder feature and can upload to ftp sites when rendering is complete.

If you batch export sequences from FC to an Episode watch folder you can set up different workflows in Episode so that any thing in watch folder A will be converted to x and then placed in folder B and/or uploaded to ftp site C.

I have not used CS6 but to my knowledge it has the same features.

Which one is right for you could depend on your budget and how the tool can be used for other things in your current workflow.

Thanks Brad.
How do I purchase the Adobe product. Do I have to get the whole Adobe Suite? Can I purchase just the encoding software? Steve

Brad. There also seems to be multiple options for Episode 6. The first option is $495 and the top option is over 5K. Please tell me all I need is that lower option. Any knowledge here.

h.264's make great Flash files. Just need to change the extension to flv.

Hey Steve.... So, very interesting. I export out files as MP4 with h264 codec. So.... I just need to change the .mp4 to .flv
Is that what you are saying?

We use the $500 addition of Episode and have been very happy with it.

To my knowledge Adobe media encoder only comes with Production premium or the Master collection.
