Strange audio sync problems
on Jul 4, 2012 at 10:50:06 pm

I filmed in 1920x1080 25fps with a Canon 600D. The musicians I filmed was playing acoustically to a stereo system that played their CD.

Now when I add the AIFF file from the CD in FCP7, it is about 1 minut/25 frames longer than the sound file from the camera.

I've tried:
Convert the audio file from the CD:
From 44.1/16 to 48/16 in iTunes.
From 44.1/16 to 48/16 in Logic
I've played the CD in iTunes into the microphone inputs on a Zoom H4 which is set to record in 48/16.
I've played the CD in iTunes into the microphone input on my Canon 600D and filmed simultaneously in 1920x1080 25fps, then converted the .mov file to Apple Pro Res 422 and put into the FCP7 among the other movie files.

Whatever I do, my external sound is exactly the same length. So about 1 minut/25 frames longer than the sound file from the camera that is in sync with the picture.

WHAT should I do?

Try trimming the audio track in the timeline 1 minute or whatever the duration before the video track and slide the audio track forward to the beginning of the video track. Hope that makes sense!

Thank you!

Timestretch in Logic was my salvation.
