OT: Automated backup software for RAID
on Jun 27, 2012 at 12:57:48 pm

Hi folks:

Just purchased a 2nd RAID solely for the purpose of backing up my main working RAID, with the notion that if RAID #1 does ever go down, I'd be able to, in a pinch, immediately start working from RAID #2 in case of a looming deadline, without having to un-archive from a slower (Drobo, etc.) system. Make sense?

Would like to set up some sort of automated backup system so that the drives sync overnight, or even throughout the workday. A friend in the biz (but with substantially less data than I have to push around) recommended Intego Back up Manager Pro, but am wondering if any of you folks have any other suggestions (and why!)

Thanks,

Tom

You may have a look to this free application from laCie;

Looks like that software is no longer supported as of 10.7 Lion.

Anyone else?

Tom

Well, I already use it to back up main system drive - I was not aware that it can be set up to back up specific drives, and more than one instance, ie boot drive to a TM drive, and then RAID to an entirely diff drive.

Can it?
