Best Sync workflow for Feature. 1 Cam, multiple Audio Track. Pluraleyes?
on Jun 6, 2012 at 10:07:24 pm

Hi one and all,
I have a sound sync question. Generally, what is the best workflow with sound sync?
This is a feature film probably gonna be outputted to DVD, Blue Ray but might have to go into a post house and want to make sure it’s smooth all the way through post.
I’m using FCP 6.06, footage was shot on Nano flash and separate audio, so each take has one video and multiple audio tracks (from 1 – 5)
I’ve tried Pluraleyes for syncing and the best result was to throw all the audio and video in a sequence and sync with no options chosen.
It worked, I got a sequence for each take all in sync. But with hundreds of takes this is a lot of sequences.
I tried Dual Eyes but it seems to no work at all, I had one Video clip and three Audio tracks, it did nothing to change the video track audio and created two new wav files. So no use.
I have only ever used the merge clip syncing in FCP which was alright but not great. Would like to use something more efficient and accurate.
I’ve trawled the forums here and elsewhere and have found no clear answer to the workflow issue. Sorry if the answer is here already.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Ps. I’m not looking for shortcuts, i don’t mind syncing each take to the clap but don’t want to waste time unnecessarily.
