What Graphics Format Should I use
on Jun 1, 2012 at 9:02:47 pm

I'm editing a pilot for a new reality TV show. We have a guy creating a graphics package for the show.

I need to know what format to request the in.

Footage was shot on P2 (1080i 29.97........compressor was DVCPRO HD 1080i60)

I'm editing the sequence with the same specs.
Not sure of the delivery format yet, but we will likely output a Quicktime at 1080i 59.94fps.

Any suggestions on a graphics format?

DVCPro HD, 1280x1080, 29.97, upper field first. That would be the codec and horizontal & vertical resolution of your video footage. If you need transparency, make it either the PNG codec or ProRes 4444.

-- OR EVEN BETTER --

Work in a 1920x1080 59.94i ProRes timeline and make the graphics 1920x1080 29.97, upper field first. Need transparency? The ProRes 4444 codec would be the way to go. That way, you could at least play everything back, but you'd still have to render on export or before going to tape.
