Compressor taking too long 37 Hours
on May 28, 2012 at 5:45:43 pm

I've added a "noise filter" to a 26 min movie on FCP and its taking 37 hours to export on compressor. Is it ok to wait or I'm doing something wrong?

The video is shot on HD 1080p
I've added:
1. Two clips "overlay" composition effect - for film effect
2. Color correction to the entire video
3. Added Noise filter to give a little "film grain" effect.

PLEASE HELP ME!!

Did you render it before you sent it to Compressor? That's pretty much a must do thing.

Compressing to what format? And what is your original codec,

FCP doesn't work with H.264 files well while editing. That format must be converted to ProRes prior to editing. Sure, editing might go decently, but then exporting will be a problem. As you see.

H264 is never to be edited native in FCP. The format is highly compressed , isn't an I Frame format that FCP needs in order to edit properly.

so should I change my sequence settings of FCP from H.264 to ProRes 422 (H.Q)?
