Frame Rates

I want to encode a 10 Bit Uncompressed QT file into an M2V.

The uncompressed file has a frame rate of 23.98.

When I change the sequence frame rate to 23.98 several windows close including the Timeline and others. So I can't proceed. The windows options to bring those windows back are also greyed out.

This happens even when I do nothing but open FCP and simply change the frame rate to 23.97. Those windows disappear and I'm unable to bring them back

How can I get those windows to open?

How do you change the sequence frame rate?

I right clicked on the sequence and went to settings where I changed the frame rate to 23.98 from 29.97. Suddenly my timeline vanished and I can't get it back.

[Sky Spooner] "I want to encode a 10 Bit Uncompressed QT file into an M2V. "

Compressor can do that. And DVD Studio Pro can make 23.976 (aka 23.98) DVDs.

ok so if I just change the frame rate in the compressor's inspector to 23.98 for the M2V all should work?

You said the file was already at 23.976. Why would you need to change it?

Because the sequence in FCP is set to 29.97 so when I export to Compressor it has that frame rate already set.

Are you saying I should just use compressor as a stand alone. And not even bother with final cut?

Sure, why not? Unless you need to add something to the file, there's no need to even open FCP. Compressor & DVDSP will do the trick.
