Can't import Garageband music

I created 1 min of music in GB for use in FCP7 project, but can't seem to import, tried exporting GB to Disc, to iTunes but it won't be accepted by FCP. Also I get clipping in the iTunes and GB versions when played outside of GB.

What settings are you using when you export to either disk or iTunes?

In FCP7, I have ProRes 422 (LT) NTSC 48khz Anamorphic and Capture is DV NTSC 48khz Anamorphic. I had a piece load previously but it may have been DV50 NTSC if that matters.

Okay, I just changed it to DV50 NTSC and it loaded ok! I have a complicated 4 min video composed of HD ftg, DV fgt, photos and DVD file. Only a 5 min video.

I was asking what format the music was exported as, but it sounds like you're good now. :)

Still not as GB 2nd half of clip has clicks in it. This is before I even import... so I think I'll ride over to the GB boys and girls. Thanks.

FCP only likes 16 or 24 bit 48khz wav or aif files. Make sure you export a file in that format. Also make sure your peak levels are not going right up to zero.

Forget iTunes. If the file from GB is not in those formats use Compressor or free software like Audacity to convert to aif or wav with those specs.

I can import, but now the problem seems to be garage band, it works fine in GB but when I export to iTunes,AIFF and any other format I get the same clicks in the same place if it's iTunes or AIFF or mp3. Funny thing is if I cut those offending clips out, it's ok. It's almost like 2 clips of piano don't want to join the band.

Sometimes I just copy and paste the offending track to a new track and that helps. Also try closing and reopening the entire program. Seems simple, but that often works wonders too. GB is buggy.

[Michael Gissing] "Forget iTunes. If the file from GB is not in those formats use Compressor or free software like Audacity to convert to aif or wav with those specs"

Agreed! :)

Export at the highest quality possible from GB... (see below)

Compress Using: AAC Encoder
Audio Settings: Custom - 256 kbps, Highest Quality, Stereo, optimized for MMX/SSE2

You might also try unchecking Compress (2nd example). That exports your song in it's original quality.

Once you have a high quality file use Compressor as suggested above.

Tried both of them, I did get aiff file but again, it had those mysterious clicks from 2 loops I added in GB. I think I might just drop the offending loops, weird but I don't know what else to do.

I can't stress to much how important it is to avoid peak levels going close to zero. Compression like aac or mp3 and back to aif can cause those peaks to be misread resulting in clipping or clicks.

I never use GB but can you export aif or wav not aac?
