Edit Video 1920 × 1200 in FCP

Hello,

I have to edit a QuickTime Screen recording which is 1920 × 1200. This video is going to be for putting on a website. I am not sure if I need to bring the video into Compressor first due to the Dimensions and also not sure about what Sequence Settings I should use. If anyone has any thought or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Brad

FCP doesn't work well with non-standard sequence sizes.

If you have a different editing application in addition to FCP, you should investigate using it; it may not have the problems FCP will have.

This is why I use ScreenFlow. You capture the full screen, choose a dimension you want the final to be, and then edit and resize in the application.

Personally I would not want to have a video that fills my entire 24" monitor. And for the many that don't have 24" monitor, that's a pain. I tend to make 720p and 1080p options.

But yeah...if you are going to work with non-broadcast standard sizes, FCP isn't the app to use. Premiere Pro, Screenflow...something like that.

I would take it into Ae and scale it down some render out a new file 1920x1080 - (will be some black border) import in FCP for the edit. Crop/scale as needed.

I use Premiere Pro. or I use imovie to help me merge all the files into one.
