i was just wondering.
i am about to edit an ambient cinema short film (meaning 4 walls in a room being projected at the same time) and the ideal way to edit such a project would be to output 4 streams of video out of final cut (or any other editing software). now i have read that back in final cut pro 3 it was possible to assign the video-tracks in a sequence to different viewers.
i was wondering if it is possible to somehow do the same, just output single videotracks to differing canvas's.
i think the power of todays machines would be able to do that (output 4 streams of HD footage), but i have never heard about apple or avid supporting this.
Although FCP or Avid supports multiple streams internally as layers on a timeline they both only output a single stream.
So although you can playback 4 or more streams of video at once the output is a composite of them all.
If you have 4 seperate projectors then you need to edit 4 seperate films and then the issue is syncing them up so they they all play together to create the desired look.
