Are .png files compatible with Final Cut Pro 7?
on Mar 13, 2012 at 9:36:02 pm

I have a powerpoint presentation that has images I want to use in a video in FCP7. I've been right-clicking them in powerpoint and saving the pictures, but am wondering what format is best for these images.

I originally saved them as jpeg, but default is png, which looks a bit better quality. Also, the jpeg files include some of the background, while the png isolates just the image that I want.

Should I use the .png version of these photos? (or what is best when saving pictures from powerpoint, to be used in fcp7)

I'd say the PNG's. You'll end up rendering anyway...

.png files should work fine in FCP. I have used them before without issue. Make sure the pixel aspect is less than 4,000 pixels in width or height.

They are better than jpeg
