I didn't see a forum on the cow dedicated to video storage, so I hope this forum is OK. I currently have a Promax SATA enclosure with drives in a RAID 0 configuration and I want to buy new drives and configure RAID 5. I'm having some trouble finding the best SATA drives for this purpose. I'd like to get something affordable but capable of handling multiple streams of full raster HD without much trouble.
I have been running Hitachi 1TB drives in my 8 bay RAID 5 setup for a few years now and have had good luck with them. Running it with an Atto R380 card and get about 475 megs a sec according to the BMD speed disk app. As I am sure you know, there was a flood in Thailand where they make most of the HD's and prices are still a bit up there compared to what they were pre flood.
