compressing software program to DVD

I have an 80GB proRes file. I want to make a DVD but do not like the quality from compressor. This is a preview DVD so it's not final but it does need to look really good.

80 gigs just tells us the file size. How long does the video run?

If you are downscaling from an HD file, search this forum for advice on setting frame controls for best scaling in Compressor.I think it is in the FAQ as it has been asked a lot.

Any details on how you are driving Compressor and, as Dave asks, what length the program is will help.

I do think Compressor does a pretty good job.
The problem could be indeed rather that it's HD footage downscaled to SD.
With the right Compressor settings it will look a lot better.
My own workflow usually involves AE: I downscale it there to SD, which AE does an awesome job in,
and then I use Compressor to create the DVD file from that SD Version.

Yes, After Effects. It does a great job scaling HD to SD.

Compressor does an excellent job. Choose one pass CBR around 6.

If you want, Compressor will select the best setting for you by clicking on the gear.

If you do not feel that Compressor is doing a good enough job for you, look at Episode Pro, Sorenson or Adobe Media Encoder.
