Turning video track on and off
on Jan 30, 2012 at 5:54:55 am

When you have 2 videos - one on v1 and one on v2, and you want to turn off v2 for a few moments to check v1, how do you do this?

I had video on both tracks as I wanted to split screen, but prior to that I wanted to colour correct and check the footage.

I tried hitting a few buttons on the left of the timeline but nothing seemed to work in FCP7.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

On the left of timeline is a green round button, there u can switch it off & on.
Also: select all clips on the track you want to switch off and press: control + B.

If you have any media that is rendered on V2 it will be lost, if you have fully turned the video track off

FCP always renders top-down.

The only recovery that I have found is "command-Z", just turning V2 back on does NOT re-instate the renders ( like in AVID)
