Shard Effect In Final Cut Pro / After Effects?
on Dec 31, 2011 at 9:42:08 pm

Hi there,

I'm interested in knowing if it is an effect used between 0.11 and 0.17 in this video:

It seems as if its maybe some sort of shards / glass effect with an RGB split? I know about RGB split effects but if anyone knows a plugin / way to do the kind of shard / splitting effect in final cut or after effects it would be highlight appreciated!

Thanks a lot :)

It doesn't look like it was accomplished using a single take, but rather a few. In AE terms, it would be fairly easy to use Time Remapping, Force Motion Blur and masking multiple layers. Th fake chromatic aberration looks like a third-party plugin.

Obviously, the camera is locked down for ease of compositing. No tripod, no effect. And you DON'T want to use FCP for this; it's just not the right tool for the job.
