Flickering Problems

So I received some footage from China, shot on XDCAM, 1080HD 30fps, and I'm getting extreme amounts of flickering, is there an easy way to fix this? A good filter or something? Re-shooting is not an option.

China is a PAL country...everything is 50hz based, including electrical...and lighting. So the lights are on a different hz rate than your camera (that is 60hz)...so you will get flickering.

Not sure if there is a way to fix this...

Ya, that's a mess, Like Shane said, don't know about a fix.
Was this shot from someone from another country? NTSC 60hz land?

They should have shot at 50/25.

well regardless of what they should have shot, they shot in 30 because they were handing off the video to Americans; that does not help me fix what I have not though.

In the past I've seen third-party plugins mentioned that can help -- but not eliminate -- such light flicker problems. I don't recall what they were called. You'd have to do a search on this forum.

Unfortunately, it'll take a long time because you'll need to use the search term, "flicker". People tend to describe anything from incorrect interlacing to juddder to bad credit rolls as flicker.

Maybe this Boris FX filter will help.
