Final Cut Studio/ Best AJA Card and Breakout Box

Hello,

I have a 6 core Mac Pro with Final Cut Studio and was wondering what would be the best AJA Card and breakout box to get for my system?

I-at this time- mostly use DV Cam, and Beta SP but at work we have Sony EX3's and I may do somethings with that as well. (Though we don't air in HD so I'd have to then down convert to SD).

In any case I am looking to expand my setup and add some quality AJA products.

Thanks!

Lee.

Look at AJA's website and compare all the specs between the LHi and LHe. Look at the connections and pick the one that best suits your needs now and for the future.

Matrox and Black Magic also offer similar capture i/o devices.

Having used Kona, Matrox and Blackmagic with FCP my preference is Kona and agree with Steve the LHe and LHi are probably your best options.

The LHi offers extra connectivity in that it in addition to the standard HD and SD BNC connectors it also has HDMI

It also offers the option to upconvert, downconvert and cross convert.

The LHe is a similar spec but no HDMI and only offers downconvert.

Obviously the breakout boxes for each reflect the neccesary io connectors.

best wishes

Make sure you are thinking in terms of using this card beyond Final Cut Studio.

Remember, its a dead product. FC Studio is discontinued. As of now FCP X cannot use any third party I/O cards.

Ask questions in the appropriate forums for how it works in Premiere Pro and Avid, as eventually you will probably be switching.
