Film into FCP

Hey All,

I have a couple of question for some who might know. I have some super8 mm film that has been transferred to a digital file. Uncompressed 10bit 720x540 to be exact. The film was shot 24fps.
To do the edit correctly what will the time line settings be? I was planning on trans-coding to ProRes 422HQ. Are there any special settings that need to be done for the trans-coding? Should the time line be set up to 24fps?

Thanks for any help

Jess

Jess,

Your answers depend on what your expected output will be of course.

Yes your time-line should probably be at 24fps since that is what the original footage is in.

You should probably create a sequence preset just for this task. Use the existing Prores 422 24p 48 preset, duplicate it it, then go in and edit the frame size to custom and set it to 720x540.

The film was 24fps but I guess the 10b Unc don't.
No reason to change that now.
Use Mpgstreamclip have a look to the Clip info and keep the same setting but the codec.

Thanks for the info, this seems pretty straight forward. Will give this a try.

Thanks...

Jess
