No Time code from Sony HVR-1500 - Decklink Extreme 3
on Nov 30, 2011 at 10:23:38 am

Hi.

Has anyone been able to a the Time code from a HVR-1500 via RS422 and HD-SDI to FCP 7.0.3 with the latest decklink driver for the Extreme 3 board.

I can see that Log & Capture gets the timecode from the deck for aprox half a second but then continues with a self generated 00:00.... timecode.

I have not touched the setings on the HVR-1500 which is default set up with VITC on.

I am using the Blackmagic 1080i easy setup and can see in Device control that it confirms that it should support LTC - VITC.

Any idea where the problem or correct setting is?
I have also deleted pref feiles and updated to latest Decklink drivers.

Regards
Stuart

And are you sure that tape has an VITC?
Why don't you try LTC?
I don't know what is call in an HDV environment VTIC.
VTIC has always been a digital info (shows up like an string of little white dots on the top of the image and used bother a lot in the Betacam times) embed in the VERTICAL INTERVAL and its happens that in a digital picture doesn't exist any Vertical Interval.

I dont think the HVR-1500 hasLTC?
As i mentioned in my post. Log & Transfer seems to pick up the TC from the deck for about 0.5 - 1 sec and then goes back to its built in TC.

HDV has a TC that is not LTC (no TC track) neither VITC (not embed in the Vertical Interval).
But the HVR-1500 puts analogue video out so can put VITC out.

You should be getting the TC through the HD/SD-SDI without problem..
The TC is embed in the video stream and when you record the video you record the TC together as it happens when you record through FW.
You should be able to do it through components too, but why to go analog?
Why don't you do it by FW?
