2k Monitoring in FCP/Blackmagic
on Nov 4, 2011 at 11:41:37 pm

Hello,

I'd like to monitor a 2k sequence on my FSI monitor via a Decklink HD Extreme 3D card but have been unable to get this to work in FCP. This is possible in Color and Resolve so isn't there a way to cross convert in FCP?

Thanks!

Gerry

Not sure about the Decklink as I am on a Kona3 but the Kona does this rescale to output 2k as 1920 x 1080.

My card has "Extreme" in the name, shouldn't it be able to do that as well?

Up to the BM website, your card manage 2K.
You should be able to monitor that at 1080.
I don't know that card, but you should have a 2K option in FCs View menu > Video Playback.

I've messed around with the settings quite a bit as well as called Blackmagic and the rep I spoke with suggested trying Creative Cow, haha.

[Gerry Curtis] "called Blackmagic and the rep I spoke with suggested trying Creative Cow, haha."

seriously?

That's one reason why AJA is better.

I'm working with Resolve so AJA isn't an option.

I don't want to turn this into an AJA vs. BlackMagic thread but I have to say I'be had a lot of positive experiences with BM support & am quite pleased with them. It would be nice if their manuals were more detailed, though.

Cheers,

Gerry

ah ok. (resolve)

yeah I don't like starting vs either.

Just had some good and odd support from them over the years.

Davinci is in good hands though.
