Why is the beginning of my video a jerkathon?
on Nov 2, 2011 at 6:02:12 pm

I shot a couple of conference videos at 720pn and then edited them on a 1080i timeline, using a DVC pro 72050 compressor.

Everything was fine until I got together a highlights video at the beginning of the video I've done a simple motion effect whereby the clip slides onto the screen from right to left and then is followed by a couple of slide transitions, again sliding from right to left.

The problem is these effects have turned into a complete jerkathon and are no longer smooth, everything is fine until export, I'm currently trying different export settings but so far to no avail.

My original compressor settings are ones that I always use for 720 web videos they are as follows: size 1280 x 720 bit rate 5000 kbs frame rate 50 fps, key frames every 30.

I then tried a deinterlace wherby everything is as above, except the bit rate is 3500 and it's got a deinterlace filter on it.

Here is the video you only have to view the first 30 seconds or so to see what I'm talking about.

Any help or comments would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

I would turn the bit rate down <2000, plays fine off the web. Also your first effect, the slide doesn't push all the way to the edge.

Put the keyframes on automatic and instead of bit rate put the slider somewhere just above medium. Maybe the first tick above medium.

Mr Smith, dropping the bit rate to under 2000 didn't work, I'm trying some other things, I'll try putting on auto and the slider to medium.

Why are you putting 720 clips in a 1080 sequence and then selecting a 720 compressor?

This makes no sense.

I did it because the first clip I laid down was the 1080 stinger, I was being lazy essentially!

However I redid the sequence in 720 and did a 720 compression and it made no difference whatsoever.

Any ideas?
