Well, you didn't stretch the name out so it was entirely visible so I can't be sure what it is or how it got there. However, you're clearly only supposed to have one FCP plist so I'd delete the "long name" one.

Not sure what you guys are seeing - when I download the image I see what I uploaded. It's a find, but reflects what was in finder in the prefs folder. The red labeled item is the whole name of a pref file that should not exist on this planet as far as I know. The entry above the red labeled line is the normal pref file I would expect to see.

If you don't see that, let me know and I will send you the image. Thanks!

Usually you see the "..." in a name in the finder when the OS is truncating a longer name. If you drag the name column edge out does the name lengthen?

Sorry I trashed prefs after the grab. That was actually what I set out to do when I discovered the anomaly. peter

Again, that file is user/Library/Preferences/By Host.
I guess is something for the system, not for the user manipulation.
What I don't understand is why that window doesn't shows the path to the file as in my computer.
Look at the bottom of the picture:

I thought you were getting too humg up on the fact is was a search, but now I get the impression it's supposed to be there and maybe not the anomoly I thought it was.
