Rearranging angles in multiclips makes the clip longer? Huh?
on Sep 29, 2011 at 10:16:22 pm

I'm pretty new to multiclip editing in Final Cut, and I've noticed something strange. I figured out that you can rearrange the angles in the viewer window by holding down the command key and simply dragging the angle to the position you want it. In other words, let's say you create a multiclip with 3 cameras: A, B and C. And let's say that angle 1 ends up being camera B, angle 2 is camera C and angle 3 is camera A. You can hold down command and drag the A cam to the angle 1 position and the other cameras slide down so that you have them in order (A,B,C).

Here's the problem. Every time I rearrange the angles, my multiclip doubles in length. The footage isn't extended, but the clip is. So if I scan past where the footage is, there's just black on every angle. The clip end up being really, really long, which makes it hard to scan through.

Can anyone tell me what's going on here? Did I explain this clearly?
