FCP 7 and MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt

Hello everyone. I want to buy the latest MBP with Thunderbolt, Promise Pegasus R6 RAID and run FCP 7. As the new MBPs come with OS Lion pre-loaded, is it ok to wipe the HD and install Snow Leopard or Leopard and run FCP 7? Would the Thunderbolt be affected in anyway? Is it advisable?
I'm actually more confident of FCP 7 on Leopard than even on Snow Leopard (fewer crashes, etc.).
Thanks in advance for your answers:-)

I understand that you will need to get Thunderbolt drivers for Leopard or SL.
No idea if those exist yet.

Thanks Rafael. Will look into that. If it's not possible, defeats the purpose of getting the new MBP.

Well, unless Apple or other manufacturer do not release the drivers, Thunderbolt won't be available for SL or Leopard.
LaCie website mention Mac OsX Lion support.
All is up to Apple's will, but I guess they want people to move to Lion.

The Macbook Pro, February 2011 models (13, 15, 17) were the first o ship with Thunderbolt. They shipped with OS X 10.6.6, and could be upgraded to 10.6.8.

What you can do is install 10.6.8 onto an external drive if you have access to another Mac and the Snow Leopard installer discs. Once installed onto the external drive, shutdown/disconnect, and then reconnect to the Thunderbolt Macbook Pro and reboot from that external drive.

Use Disk Utility to do a System Restore onto the internal hard drive, and you will then have a Macbook Pro with Thunderbolt that runs 10.6.8
