Interpreting footage
on Sep 15, 2011 at 1:16:38 pm

Hi,

I have footage from 2 sepearte cameras. one shot at 25fps the other at 30fps. When i made the video it was glitched.

do i need to interpret the footage from the start ? to be able to have all footage at one frame rate?

can i interpret the footage afterwards?

I am working on final cut pro. if i have to start from scratch will the edit decision list show me where all my edits were?

many thanks

T ledgard.

You can mix frame rates in an FCP timeline, but that doesn't mean it's going to look good.

What frame rate do you need to DELIVER? That's the frame rate to use when you cut, and that's the frame rate to which you need to convert the footage in the opposite frame rate.

You can use Compressor to do it or you can get frame rate conversion software like Twixtor to do it. Since frame rate conversion software is typically used BEFORE editing, things don't look good for your EDL.
