1080p to 2K & Final cut workflow
on Sep 10, 2011 at 7:44:49 am

I dont know if anybody here tried it, but im thinking of upscaling 1920X1080p footage up to 2K resolution for FILM (negative) transfer. I think upscaling to 4K would be choppy, if anyone has experience about this kindly mention. I need to know the final cut studio & other necessary program workflow (edit, cgi, dpx upscale, xml, color grade & final output).

Please enlighten with me guys...

Find a company that does the film out, and ask them.

[Areful Eeslam] "but the thing is i live in Bangladesh"
You are right beside India.
If I'm not wrong, probably the best place in the world to get affordable 35mm printing.

You can get that at home with a KONA.

[Areful Eeslam] " think upscaling to 4K would be choppy,"
What do you mean? On playing the file?
It will be choppy if you play it on a system without enough performance.
You should be able to play 2k from an an eSATA HD through a lap-top.

The political & beurocratic problem at two countries' custom makes a good deal of hassle of shipping prints which takes months to get there & come back as well, which eventually makes production delay & cost effective. We are looking for native solution that's why we imported a transfer machine.

Thanks for the suggestion. Would you be kind enough to specify which KONA would be best for me for grading & 2K upscaling purpose?

About choppy i meant upscaling a 1080p video into 4K transfer, i thought it would be too stretched like upscaling a 480p video onto 1080p, dont you think? not 100% sure though, any suggestions?

Thanks for your reply

Regards.

The KONA-3G is the one able to manage 2K.
In the KONA forum you will get help about this device.
