When importing media via Log & Transfer what is meant by 'Spanned" when you see that next to a clip in the Log & Transfer list

Thanks

Many tapeless formats break up the video into smaller chunks. This most often is due to the format of the tapeless media. P2, for example, is FAT32...and that has a 4GB limit. So the card will break up the long shots that are over 4GB into smaller 4GB pieces. The footage is spanned across several files. And then when you import into FCP (or other NLE), they will be joined together.

You can also have clips that span across two cards and each individual file is less than 4GB. This happens when you start recording on an almost full card.
