Faking the sound of a telephone / Headphone.
on Aug 19, 2011 at 1:06:06 pm

Hi Folks.
Does anybody know a plugin or filter to fake a sound coming from a telephone and or headphone ?
Or if there isn't such a kind, how could I do it in FCP or Soundtrack ?
Thanks in advance.

There's one built into Garage Band, BTW.

Sorry, but I didn't find it. I don't know if I'm wrong but I think GB doesn't have filters. It has some SFX. But either way I didn't find it.
In fact, what I'm looking for is a filter to fake the sound of a music coming from a headphone and in another shot, an actor's voice coming out from a telephone.
Thanks anyway for answering me.

Should be able to achieve something acceptable with an EQ filter. Just take out the low end and adjust your gain until you get the desired effect. It will probably take a bit of noodling to get it just the way you want it. Might even try adding just a hint of reverb.

Thanks for the hints.
BTW, I believe you are talking about SoundtrackPro, right ?

No, just look for an EQ filter in your Effects bin of FCP. Drop it on your music/voice clips and start adjusting. It's a little clunky and you may have to render. Yes you can achieve this is STP also if you know what you're doing or have the time to play around in the app.

Thanks. I already did some workaround between FCP and STP. but I will try in FCP first.
