Importing logo into showreels
on Aug 16, 2011 at 12:54:08 pm

Essentially, I want to add logo caption bookends to short showreels before adding them to my site.
Hello everyone.

My logo designer has sent over various formats and dpi counts, but even a 600 dpi Jpeg still appears 'blocky' in the FCP timeline. I have even applied some filters to no avail.

Can anyone suggest how to get this crystal clear?

Is it a matter of pixelation through the MAC screen/monitor?

All suggestions are very welcome and many thanks in advance ...

Have him make the logo the size it ends up being... i.e., don't resize it in any way. Make sure the logo is RGB, not CMYK, and set the dpi to be 72... yep that's all that will resolve anyway. DPI doesn't have anything to do with video actually, but 72 dpi is all that will resolve in video.

It's likely the resizing causing the ugly logo...

Maybe depends on the format of your edit (progressive or interlaced)
sometimes a little blur (0.5 to 1) will solve some problems

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions.

I'm away from my equipment at the moment but I will follow your advice as soon as I get back to it.

Many thanks again,

Brendan
