No-render problem at 640x360
on Aug 10, 2011 at 3:15:56 pm

Hey there...having a problem importing my video clips to my timeline without rendering. I captured the video at 640x360 and used MPEG Streamclip to convert to Apple DVCPRO50-NTSC at a frame rate of 24. If I convert it to 720x480 it works fine, but that screws up the aspect ratio. When I convert it at the original resolution of 640x360, I have to render in FCP. How can I fix it that I can import these clips at 640x360 without rendering? Thanks.

640x360 isn't a standard format...therefore FCP will be required to render it. You need to use standard frame sizes and frame rates in FCP. So the footage should be converted to 720x480 DV50...and you might need to flag it as ANAMORPHIC, as the original size is 16:9, and SD doesn't have full raster 16:9 dimensions.
