Sub-Titling in FCP: needs to be exact
on Aug 2, 2011 at 11:54:33 pm

Hi,

I am having a sub-titling problem. I have many, many videos (40 or so) about 3 minutes each that need to be titled in a very specific fashion for a very exacting client.

I am using Gotham medium.

I did sample versions by placing the titles in FCP using the text tool then replacing each title card with a title card from photoshop which rastered the font correctly. However my current post schedule will not allow me to finish everything in this manner. There's just not enough time.

Is there a way to:

- get FCP to raster Gotham correctly?
- is there a type plug-in that I could purchase which might make the gotham raster correctly as it does in photoshop/after effects?
- any other suggestions?

Thanks ahead of time!

Chris

So The Boris Title 3D text tool isn't rastering correctly? Use that if you haven't tried it.

Hi Bret,

Wow. Thanks! I had forgotten about the built in Boris.

One other question if you happen to know - the text is still different than what comes out of photoshop/aftereffects. I think I can get it close enough - in this case very close. But in general do you/anyone else know why FCP text is always sort of just a tiny bit different/off from photoshop/after effects text?

Thanks!

Chris
