Hello all,

I thought I would query the collective mind that is the Cow.

Title sums it up nicely. Apart from being almost 6x as large, is there any reason I should favor uncompressed over ProRes 4444 as my acquisition format for green screen work.

The media on the Cinedeck are two 256 GB 2.5" SSD drives, which gives me a little over 20 mins record time, which could be a bit of a bottleneck on set with a roughly 50 min transfer per card via eSATA.

I'm leaning toward ProRes, but I would appreciate if someone could tell me why that's wrong.

Thoughts?

Thank you for your time.

No serious reason to not use ProRes 4444 IMHO. The reason uncompressed might be better is the fact that when a render happens, the computer doesn't have to uncompress the compressed file, add the filter or whatever, then recompress it back to the codec set in the sequence. This results in a no loss render. ProREs is darn close though. Also believe it or not, Uncompressed renders faster... because it doesn't have to un then re compress...

Sorry to disappoint, but it's a rental.
