File Transfer Protocol
on Jul 27, 2011 at 9:07:55 pm

Greetings,

I have a few clients that are in need of transferring large files (5 GB +) to me for editing. I need to find a reliable, secure, ftp with UNLIMITED file size transfers. I dont' mind paying a monthly. Any suggestions about what is the professional way to do this?

Thanks,

Dustin

Nothing stopping you from making your own? Except the speed of your connection. I use YouSendIt, but my files are nto as large as yours. I think Yousendit can handle larger ones, if you pay more.

I downloaded Clark Connect free software (dedicated Linux variant), converted an old PC that was lying around and set up my own ftp & http server. It isn't that tricky and it has the advantage of downloads and uploads directly without the time taken to transfer a big file to another cloud type server first.

It also means you could host your own website as well. The software is driven by a browser and offers a lot of security and reliability. Mine just runs night and day and never crashes.
